Eagan Man Runs Over Another Man with Truck, Woodbury Police Say

An Eagan man is charged with running over a man in Woodbury with his truck after a road rage incident.

Christopher Phillip Gisch, 29, was charged with third-degree assault, criminal vehicular operation with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more, and operating a vehicle with negligence while under the influence, all felonies. Gisch faces a combined total of up to 11 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Woodbury police officers responded to Bielenberg Drive and Tamarack Road on the afternoon of Jan. 5 on the report that three men were fighting, according to the complaint. One of the officers observed the three men fighting and another officer reported seeing two of the men enter a pickup truck and leave the scene.

Paramedics arrived to treat a man identified in the complaint as C.A.P. Woodbury police officers learned that during the fight two men entered a truck before hitting and driving over C.A.P. with the truck. C.A.P.'s right ankle was broken. Several witnesses observed the incident, according to the complaint.

Police searched for the vehicle and found it at a home in Woodbury. Two officers went to the home and spoke with Gisch. Gisch told police that the fight was due to road rage and he admitted running over the other man. 

The officers arrested Gisch and as they escorted him from the home, they could smell alcohol on him. When officers asked Gisch how much alcohol he had drank, he told them “enough” and asked about the condition of C.A.P.

Gisch’s eyes were bloodshot, watery and glossy, according to the complaint. His blood alcohol concentration was .12.

Gisch had his first appearance in Washington County Court on Jan. 7.
