Eagan Police Blotter: Aug. 11-13

Aug. 11

-A caller in the 4400 block of Slater Road reported financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

-A caller in the 1700 block of Serpentine Drive reported seeing three suspicious males. The caller said the three parked a car on the corner and two got out and took a lawn mower out of a neighbor’s yard. Police tracked down the car and cited two of the men for trespassing.

-A caller in the 4600 block of Sorrel Point reported that someone broke the driver’s side window of a car and stole a GPS unit from the dashboard.

-The Holiday station in the 1500 block of Cliff Road reported two gasoline drive-offs within minutes of one another, one for $35.87 and the other for $33.01. The license plate on one of the drive-offs didn’t match the vehicle’s description; police traced the registered owner of the car involved in the second drive-off and sent a letter to the person.

-A caller in the 1500 block of Thomas Lake Pointe Road reported that someone used his name to buy a car. The victim turned over information on the suspect to police.

-A caller reported that a protester was standing on at the intersection of Cliff Road and Nicols Road holding a sign reading, “Republicans hate you.” The caller told police he didn’t think the sign was appropriate. He was told that the protester wasn’t breaking any laws.

-The Go For It station in the 8600 block of Hunters Way reported a $20 gasoline drive-off. Police sent a letter to the registered owner of the car involved in the drive-off.

-Police were called to the 1900 block of Ruby Court North on a reported domestic disturbance. They were told that the victim’s 16-year-old son broke her cell phone. Police made sure that the two were separated and were told that the boy was spending the night at a friend’s house.

-Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 4300 block of Orion Lane. The caller, a 19-year-old woman, said her father was refusing to allow her to leave the house because she was ill and hadn’t gotten enough sleep. The woman eventually left and went to a friend’s house.

-Police responded to a report of someone disturbing the peace in the 1100 block of Town Centre Drive. The caller said some neighbors were “being very loud” on their patio. The residents were warned to keep the noise down.

Aug. 12

-Police stopped a car at Cliff Road and Slater Road and arrested a 21-year-old Burnsville man for DWI.

-The Holiday station in the 4500 block of Nicols Road reported a $33.39 gasoline drive-off, but the clerk later admitted that it was a mistake and that she forgot to charge the customer.

-A caller in the 1700 block of Turquoise Trail reported that someone vandalized a street light by disconnecting the light’s wiring. Dakota Electric was notified and agreed to check other street lights in the area.

-A caller in the 4600 block of Beacon Hill Road reported a stray black cat in the neighborhood and expressed concern because children play in the area. An animal control officer collected the “scary cat” and took “one very sweet, smaller size black cat who’s now frightened in my back seat” to the pound. The officer described the neutered male cat as “kittenish, still small and has young cat teeth,” with no collar, no microchip, all his claws and extra front toes. “I’m naming him Henry,” the officer’s report added.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Rahn Road reported that her ex-boyfriend keyed her parents’ car in their apartment complex parking lot. The woman said she’d had a confrontation with the man in an Apple Valley bar the previous night, and the next morning she discovered the damage to the car.

-A caller in the 1800 block of Merlot Curve reported that a sterling silver set was missing from her home. The victim had no idea when it happened, but said the 60-piece set was taken “sometime this year, maybe.”

-A caller in the 1900 block of Ruby Court North reported that his mother had called and sounded suicidal. He said she told him she was going to buy a gun and blow her brains out in his presence. He told police his mother has a lot of “medical issues.” Police checked with the woman, who said she was fine and denied making suicidal statements to her son.

-The Holiday station in the 3600 block of Pilot Knob Road reported a $60 gasoline drive-off. Police tracked down the car and arrested  a 44-year-old Crystal woman for theft and driving with a suspended license.

-Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Federal Court. The caller’s 20-year-old son broke a glass pitcher; paramedics treated him for cuts on his hand, and he left with his uncle.

Aug. 13

-A caller in the 1200 block of Birch Point said someone hit his parked car and fled the scene. The front end of the car was damaged. Police identified the suspect, a 40-year-old Eagan man, and mailed a citation for hit-and-run.

-Police stopped a car at Nicols Road and Shale Lane and arrested an 18-year-old man for DWI and refusing to take a breath test.

-Police stopped a car at Duckwood Drive and Pilot Knob Road, cited a 34-year-old man for driving with only one headlight and impounded his vehicle.

-A caller reported an “underage drinking and drug party” in the 3200 block of Coachman Road. The caller, a food delivery driver, told police that “they looked pretty young to be doing that stuff.” Police cited a 23-year-old man in connection with the incident.

-Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1300 block of Easter Lane. The 15-year-old caller, who said her 9-year-old sister was also in the house, said her 19-year-old sister was “out of control” and was “throwing stuff around downstairs.” The caller told police her hand was bleeding because she had tried to lock herself into her mother’s bedroom, but the 19-year-old chased her and caught her hand in the door. The 19-year-old told police that she was upset with her sisters because they ate all the honey from some chicken nuggets and didn’t save any for her.

-The New Mart station in the 1900 block of Silver Bell Road reported a $50 gasoline drive-off. The clerk recorded the plate number and police were investigating.

-Police responded to a hit-and-run car vs. bicycle accident at Cliff Road and Interstate 35E. The bicyclist was treated for minor injuries.

-An employee at Walmart in the 1300 block of Town Centre Drive reported that a “known shoplifter” had just left the store. The employee said the man had collected items, but had dumped everything and left the store, though his car was still in the parking lot. After he drove off, police stopped the car and arrested a 22-year-old St. Paul man, who was suspected of stealing up to $1,000 worth of game system controllers on Aug. 7.

-An employee of Caribou Coffee in the 2100 block of Cliff Road told police that a possibly intoxicated man had locked himself in the restroom and had been inside for almost two hours. Police checked records and determined that the man was a registered sex offender. He was taken to detox.

-A caller in the 4400 block of Clover Lane reported that her sister grabbed her and choked her when she walked into the house. The victim said her sister had a “big piece of wood and high heels” and tried to hit her in the face with them. Police determined that it was an argument among sisters; the women’s father agreed to “keep the peace.”

-A caller in the 1100 block of Lexington Ridge Court reported an underage party in the neighborhood and said it was an ongoing problem. More than 15 people were cited for underage drinking.
