Eagan Police Blotter: Aug. 14-16

A roundup of selected Eagan Police Department calls and arrests.

Aug. 14

-Police stopped a car at 140th Street West and Cedar Avenue and cited a 54-year-old Burnsville man for DWI.

-Police stopped a car at Blackhawk Road and Cliff Road and cited an 18-year-old man for DWI.

-A caller in the 1400 block of Deerwood Drive reported a vehicle driving around in the baseball field at Deerwood Elementary School.  Two people were cited for damage to property and underage drinking.

-A caller in the 3900 block of Valley View Drive North reported that her fiancé was threatening suicide. The woman said her fiancé had broken a picture frame over his leg, and that he had been drinking. The man told the woman everything was her fault and refused to let her leave the apartment, she told police.

-A caller at Grace Drive and Pilot Knob Road said she and her dog were attacked by two Labrador retrievers. She said the dogs knocked her down and bit her dog. The dogs’ owner was called and brought them home.

-The Kwik Trip in the 3100 block of Dodd Road reported a $54.15 gasoline drive-off.

-A caller in the 2900 block of Burnside Avenue reported that his car had been stolen a week ago. He told police he had allowed an acquaintance to use it, but the car hadn’t been returned.

-A caller reported the sexual assault of a 3-year-old child. The child’s father told police that the suspect was a 16-year-old male who lives in the 4400 block of Lynx Court.

-A caller in the 1400 block of Horseshoe Circle reported that his wife had pulled a knife on him and chased him and their two children out of the house. The man told police that he and his wife had argued while cleaning up after dinner. Police arrested a 38-year-old woman.

-A police squad car at Diffley Road and Hilltop Lane hit a deer. The deer, which was still alive, was euthanized. The squad car had only minimal damage.

Aug. 15

-A caller in the 4300 block of Copper Point reported a loud juvenile party. When police arrived, one of the partygoers ran into the house and locked the door; the host’s parents were called and let officers inside. Three people were cited for underage drinking and everyone was sent home.

-Police responded to a car fire at Bridle Ridge Road and Elrene Road. The car was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived. The fire appeared to be electrical in nature, according to the police report.

-A 15-year-old boy was cited for a curfew violation at Dodd Road and Esk Lane and released to the custody of his father.

-A caller in the 4500 block of Cinnamon Ridge Trail reported a car fire about a block south. The caller said he heard an explosion and saw flames and smoke, and that a large pine tree next to the car had also caught fire. The fire was extinguished and two cars were towed from the scene.

-Police stopped a car at Deerwood Drive and Skywood Lane and cited a 28-year-old man for DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

-A caller in the 2100 block of Warrick Court reported seeing two suspicious males running in the neighborhood, one of them carrying a pocket knife and the other possibly carrying a bag. Police arrested a 20-year-old man and 21-year-old man for theft after receiving similar reports from callers in nearby neighborhoods.

-A caller in the 4900 block of Rusten Road reported that someone stole Taylor Swift CDs from a car overnight.

-A caller in the 1100 block of Parkview Lane reported that someone broke a window on a car overnight, but nothing was taken.

-A caller in the 4800 block of Whispering Court reported that a GPS and sunglasses were taken from an unlocked car. Police believe that the theft was related to the arrests of the two men on Warrick Court.

-A caller in the 680 block of Stonewood Road reported that a window was broken from a car overnight, but nothing was taken.

-A caller in the 4300 block of Medary Avenue reported a broken window on his vehicle.

-A caller in the 600 block of Brentwood Lane reported that someone smashed a window on a car overnight. Nothing was taken.

-A caller at Elrene Road and Yankee Doodle Road reported a female lying on the ground in a fetal position. The woman was taken to the hospital  for evaluation.

-The Holiday station in the 3000 block of Holiday Lane reported a $65.06 gasoline drive-off. Surveillance video showed the suspect waving at the camera. Police learned that the car had a stolen license plate.

-A caller in the 3000 block of Eagandale Place reported a laundry theft.

-A caller in the 3800 block of Pilot Knob Road reported that his 2-year-old daughter came home from day care with bruising around her neck. The day-care provider said she didn’t know how it happened, and that the child must have awakened that way. Police took photographs of the child and said they would investigate the day-care center.

-A caller in the 4600 block of Ridge Cliffe Drive reported that someone stole a GPS out of a vehicle.

-A caller in the 2100 block of Cool Stream Circle reported that someone shot out a townhouse window with a BB gun overnight.

-A caller in the 3900 block of Valley View Drive South told police that there was a strong smell of “something possibly dead” coming from an adjacent apartment. Police found no one home at the apartment in question, which they said smelled strongly of garbage and cats. Officers prepared a report for social services.

-Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Lexington Avenue and Lone Oak Road. There were no injuries.

-An employee of Walmart in the 1300 block of Town Centre Drive reported that a male shoplifter, possibly accompanied by two women, had fled the store. Police determined that the man took more than $600 worth of video games, and the two women each stuffed their purses with $200 to $300 worth of clothes and shoes.

-A caller in the 3400 block of Rolling Hills Drive reported a suicidal 15-year-old male, who was upset because his laptop had been taken away from him. The boy was arrested for domestic assault and animal cruelty and taken to the juvenile detention center.

-A caller in the 2200 block of James Court reported that someone took a GPS and car charger from an unlocked car overnight.

-A caller in the 1900 block of Cliff Lake Road reported that someone stole a $400 bicycle.

-A caller in the 3800 block of Pilot Knob Road told police that he was getting text messages from a friend who said life was not worth living. Police located the man, who told them he was fine – just upset about fishing license restrictions.

-Police stopped a car at Dodd Road and Yankee Doodle Road and cited an 18-year-old man for possession of drug paraphernalia.

-An employee of Kohl’s in the 1300 block of Town Centre Drive reported two 14-year-old girls in custody for shoplifting. The two girls were cited and released.

-The Holiday station in the 3000 block of Holiday Lane reported a $14.95 gasoline drive-off.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Lexington Avenue told police that three people in a parked car were passing something back and forth and smoking it. A 27-year-old man was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aug. 16

-Police cited two people, an 18-year-old woman and a juvenile female, for shoplifting from Cub Foods in the 1900 block of Cliff Lake Road.
