November 4

Police stopped a motorist at Cliff Road and Interstate 35E and charged the driver – who admitted to using narcotics – with DWI.

Police stopped a motorist at Highway 13 and Silver Bell Road and charged the driver with DUI.

A caller in the 500 block of Caylin Court reported that someone smashed a pumpkin and three solar lights overnight.

A caller in the 1800 block of Karis Way reported that someone illegally deposited three mattresses in a residential Dumpster.

A caller in the 1900 block of Gold Trail reported that a woman had just sent text messages that she was going to come over in 15 minutes and “beat her up.” Police warned the suspect and told her she was banned from the premises.

An employee of Hong Wong restaurant in the 2100 block of Cliff Road reported that someone punched out the building’s front door overnight and took $200 from an unlocked safe.

A caller in the 3200 block of Valley Ridge Drive reported that he had left a suitcase containing clothing by his front door and went back inside the use the bathroom. When he came back out, the bag was gone.

The Holiday station in the 3600 block of Pilot Knob Road reported a $36.94 gasoline drive-off.

The SuperAmerica station in the 1300 block of Town Centre Drive reported a $35.01 gasoline drive-off. Police arrested a suspect for theft and driving with a suspended license.

An employee of Radio Shack in the 1200 block of Town Centre Drive told police that a man had come into the store and possibly took a web camera, put it into a cart and pushed the cart into the Big Lots store. Police arrested a suspect after he took a television from Big Lots and a keyboard from Rainbow Foods.

The Holiday station in the 3600 block of Pilot Knob Road reported a $38.05 gasoline drive-off.

Police responded to a car-deer accident at Cliff Road and Thomas Lake Road. The driver’s airbag deployed in the crash, but he was not injured. The deer ran north across Cliff Road after the incident.

The Holiday station in the 1000 block of Diffley Road reported a $20 gasoline drive-off. Police traced the license plate to a residence in Webster.

Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 3400 block of Golfview Drive. The caller asked to have her 24-year-old son removed from the home; she told police that he is known to carry a firearm and is a frequent user of methamphetamine. Police determined that the argument was verbal only and separated the two for the night.

November 5

An employee of Lone Oak Market in the 1200 block of Lone Oak Road reported that a man had held up the store using an automatic weapon, and had knocked out the employee’s tooth. The suspect got away without any money. Police set up a perimeter and used a K-9 officer to track the suspect, but the dog lost the scent.

A caller in the 3100 block of Coachman Road reported a 43-year-old man with “mental health issues,” being destructive and yelling. Police determined that the man had an outstanding warrant for DUI and went to the apartment, where they found the suspect had locked himself in the bathroom and refused to open the door. Police kicked in the door, handcuffed the naked suspect and transported him to a hospital.

Police responded to a 911 hang-up in the 4200 block of Sunrise Road. When a dispatcher called the number back, a man answered and said, “All OK, we are cool,” and the dispatcher heard a woman in the background yell “Liar!” Police took the man, who was believed to be depressed and suicidal, to a hospital.

A caller in the 3400 block of Highlander Drive reported that he saw ex-tenants breaking into a garage the night before and taking some DeWalt saws.

A caller in the 4400 block of Lakeshore Terrace reported that sometime within the last six months, someone stole two rings, possibly one of numerous home health care aides or someone working on the house. The victim told police it wasn’t “ethical” to give out any more information without a specific reason to suspect someone.

Police responded to a four-vehicle accident at Cedar Avenue and Cliff Road. One of the vehicles was towed from the scene.

A caller at a storage facility in the 4000 block of Highway 13 reported that someone broke into a storage locker sometime within the last two weeks and took some items. The suspect took the victim’s lock and replaced it with a small, unsecured lock.

Police stopped a motorist at Thomas Center Drive and Thomas Lake Road and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant for a gasoline drive-off.

A caller in the 1300 block of Lone Oak Road reported that he had found a smashed egg on his front door and a dead fish in his mailbox.

A caller in the 4400 block of Slater Road reported that her friend’s boyfriend was beating up her friend. Police determined that there was no physical assault; the man left the home for the night.

A caller in the 2800 block of Lexington Avenue reported that his 31-year-old brother had sent a text message saying he was “done with his life” and that he had a loaded pistol. Police determined that the man was not a threat to himself or others and gave him a ride to a nearby transit center.

A caller in the 3900 block of Valley View Drive South reported that his girlfriend was holding a knife to her own throat, saying that she was going to cut her throat and tell police that he did it. The man said his girlfriend had “taken some big gouges out of his arm” with the knife while he was trying to leave, and told police that she has assaulted him three or four times in the past.

A caller in the 4100 block of Ruby Lane told police that he had come home and found his door unlocked, and items “out of place” in the house. He said he didn’t know if anything was missing, and that he wasn’t going to check. He named a suspect and told police that he had caught the man walking in his yard in June, and also said he believes that someone is doing surveillance on his home.  Police determined that the alarm pad at the man’s home showed a different door triggered than the one the man claimed had been unlocked. The man said he wanted “the chief” involved in the investigation, or he would go to the media “for their investigative skills.”

Police received a 911 call from the 700 block of Bridle Ridge Road. The dispatcher heard a lot of screaming and a man said, “I have an emergency,” then hung up. When the dispatcher called back, he said he had been arguing with his girlfriend, but that he had calmed her down and everything was fine. He said he called 911 because she was intoxicated and he was afraid she would try to drive with her 1-year-old child. The two agreed to stay separated for the night.

A caller in the 1000 block of Diffley Road reported that someone had shone a laser into his eye about a half-hour earlier, and he was taking himself to the emergency room because a nurse told him he should be seen for possible damage to his eye.

November 6

Police responded to a report of suspicious people at a hotel in the 3300 block of Norwest Court. One male was cited for underage drinking.

A guest at a hotel in the 3300 block of Norwest Court reported that her boyfriend had locked her out of their room. She told police she wanted to get her bags and leave. A hotel employee agreed to open the door for her, and she waited in the lobby for police to arrive. Her boyfriend left the hotel for the night.

A caller in the 4100 block of Meadowlark Lane reported that someone had tried to break in a front door, possibly a neighbor with whom the residents had argued earlier in the evening. The incident, which the report attributed to “the wonders of hops and grain,” began when an intoxicated neighbor kicked the door; he told police he did it because he was “mad and drunk.” The victims told police they wanted the suspect to pay for repairs.

A caller in the 4800 block of Weston Hills Drive reported that someone smashed a pumpkin and broke a solar light.

A caller in the 4100 block of Rahn Road told police that his wife was intoxicated and trying to leave with two small children. The man said she is frequently drunk when she picks him up from work. The two had a “very minor” verbal altercation, and the woman agreed to leave for a few hours.

A caller in the 500 block of White Pine Way reported that someone stole a Garmin GPS unit from a locked vehicle overnight.

A caller in the 3500 block of Blue Jay Way reported that his intoxicated ex-fiancee had tried to start a fire in the bathroom by burning her bra, and was now lying on the kitchen floor. Police took her to detox.

Lone Oak Market in the 1200 block of Lone Oak Road reported a $54.51 gasoline drive-off. Police mailed a letter to the car’s registered owner.

A caller in the 4400 block of Wedgewood Drive reported finding a lawn mower and an owner’s manual in his garage. The caller said he had been “having some trouble with neighbors” and was concerned that they put the lawn mower in his garage, planning to claim that it was stolen. A neighbor told police that a white van had pulled up to the garage and someone pushed the lawn mower inside.

A caller in the 4400 block of Clover Lane reported that someone smashed the back window of a pickup topper overnight. Nothing was taken.

A caller in the 1800 block of Red Fox Road reported that someone stole a laptop computer from his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway.

A caller in the 1100 block of Northwood Drive reported that a man was calling and sending threatening text messages. An officer called the suspect, who hung up on him. The officer called back and left a voice mail advising the man to stop texting the victim.

A caller in the 2100 block of Cedar Grove Trail reported receiving a threatening voice mail from her ex-husband in which he referred to her “burning” and the suspect “watching her burn.” The victim said she had previously been harassed by the suspect, who she said was upset with a recent custody ruling in her favor. Police contacted the suspect and told him to stop threatening the victim.

An employee of the Holiday station in the 3600 block of Pilot Knob Road reported that a man had just held up the store at gunpoint. The man told the clerk to open the cash register, then grabbed some money, jumped into a car parked at a gas pump and fled. The description of the suspect’s vehicle matched the description of a van that had been stolen 20 minutes earlier in Lakeville. Police pursued the suspect at speeds approaching 100 mph onto southbound Cedar Lane, finally stopping him with stop sticks at 143rd Street in Apple Valley. The man fled on foot but was apprehended and arrested.
