Elderly Woman Killed in Car Crash

A Burnsville woman was struck by another vehicle in Eagan after allegedly failing to yield to traffic.

An 85-year-old woman died Monday evening after she was struck on the driver's side of her car while driving through the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Savannah Road in Eagan.

Police report that Jeannette Mcleery of Burnsville was the only person in her car. According to witnesses, Mcleery drove onto Lexington Avenue and failed to yield to traffic. According to police, a car traveling northbound on Lexington Avenue struck McCleerey’s vehicle in the driver’s door. McCleerey died at the scene.

The car driving northbound was carrying two juveniles and only the driver sustained minor injuries, police said.

"It is believed all individuals involved in the crash were wearing their seatbelts, and
alcohol does not appear to be a factor," police said.

The Minnesota State Patrol is now helping with the investigation and there are currently no pending criminal charges.
