Fire damages Eagan home

All residents escaped without injury

A fire in Eagan early this morning caused more than $100,000 in estimated damages, but two adults and three children from the single family home escaped uninjured.

The Eagan Fire Marshal is investigating the incident, but officials suspect lightning struck the home and caused the fire, according to a news release from the Eagan Fire Department.

A fire at the 800 block of Curry Trail broke out and a neighbor who saw flames coming from the roof called 911, according to the news release. The neighbor also alerted the homeowners.

Crews from four of Eagan's five fire stations responded and quickly put out the fire, the release says.

Neighbors reported loud thunder -- one neighbor said it was the loudest thunder he had ever heard -- about an hour before the fire started, according to the news release.
