Lakeville Woman Killed in Four-Person, Three-Car Collision in Eagan

A Lakeville woman was killed in a four-person, three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highways 55 and 149 in Eagan on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Sandra S. Brodin, 68, was a passenger in a Mini Cooper making a left turn onto Hwy. 149 from eastbound Hwy. 55 when her vehicle was broadsided by a Dodge Caravan traveling west on Hwy. 55, according to a state patrol report.

After the initial collision, the Mini Cooper struck a third vehicle, which was stopped at a red light on southbound Hwy. 149.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, 69-year-old Dale W. Brodin, sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Dodge Caravan, 23-year-old Minneapolis resident Bashir A. Abdulahi, had no apparent injuries, according to the crash report. The driver of the third vehicle, Thomas L. Pawlenty, of South St. Paul, also had no apparent injuries. No alcohol was detected on any of the victims, and all four were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the crash report.

The Mini Cooper was totaled, and damage to the Dodge Caravan was listed as severe. The third vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, only received minor damage.

Road conditions were wet at the time of the accident, which took place just before 2 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Eagan Police Department officers were among the emergency responders at the scene.
