Man Faces Terroristic Threat Charge After Confrontation in Eagan

Police say 22-year-old Synquez Desionne Davis threatened others at a bar with a fake handgun.

Police arrested a 22-year-old New Brighton man after he allegedly threatened several bystanders at an Eagan bar with a fake handgun.

Synquez Desionne Davis faces one count of terroristic threats in connection with the incident, which allegedly took place late last year at a bar on the 3800 block of Cedar Grove Parkway in Eagan. If convicted, he could face as much as one year and one day of jail time and a $3,000 fine.

Police were called to the bar on a report of a fight in the parking lot, and learned when they arrived that one of the participants had a gun, according to a criminal complaint issued last week by the Dakota County Attorney's office.

Witnesses told police that Davis and a friend were being escorted out of the bar when they got in an altercation with another group of customers. At one point, witnesses said Davis aggressively approached them, asking "What you got, what you got?" He then lifted up his shirt and showed them a black handgun tucked in his waistban, the complaint said.

After the altercation, police say Davis got in an SUV with at least one other person and left the scene.

Minnesota State Patrol offices located the vehicle on I-35W near I-494, and found what was later determined to be a realistic replica of a Ruger semi-automatic pistol.

Police say Davis admitted to carrying the replica gun, but denied making any threats with it. He also denied intentionally showing it to anyone at the bar, telling police that it may have been visible while he was struggling.

Davis has at least one prior conviction for fifth-degree assault.
