Max Lowell of Inver Grove Heights Killed in Eagan Crash

Lowell was a student and athlete at Cretin-Derham Hall.

Max Lowell, of Inver Grove Heights, is the 16-year-old who was killed in a car crash in Eagan early on Sunday morning, according to the Pioneer Press. Lowell was a junior at Cretin-Derham Hall High School and a member of the football team.

Jake Lacina, one of Lowell's teammates on the football team, told KARE 11: "He had just dropped me off and he said 'I'll see you Monday'... I can't believe this happened. He was such a great guy."

Lowell was traveling east on Cliff Road when his vehicle hit a power pole and he was thrown from the vehicle. The incident occurred at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday and Lowell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident caused a power outage to about 600 Dakota Electric customers, which was restored to nearly everyone by 4:30 a.m., according to the Pioneer Press.
