UPDATED: Minneapolis Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Eagan

Police say Steven Jones, 48, led officers on a chase along I-35E late Thursday night.

A 48-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that hit a maximum speed of 105 mph, according to a press release issued by the Eagan Police Department.

Steven Jones is currently being held at the Dakota County Jail for fleeing a peace office in a motor vehicle, fifth-degree drug possession, reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device.

The five-minute long pursuit began at 11:53 p.m., when Eagan police attempted to stop a car that police suspected was involved in an earlier pursuit in Minneapolis, according to police.

But the car fled south on Cedar Avenue, exited on Cliff Road eventually headed north on I-35E. Eagan police used stop sticks on the vehicle, then employed the PIT maneuver, which caused the suspect to lose control and stop near the exit to Lone Oak Road, police said. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Dakota County Attorney's office said that charges in the case would likely be filed on Monday.
