For a quarter century, the Eagan Police Department has relied on the Ford Crown Victoria as the workhorse of the department's squad car fleet. But now the aging Crown Victoria, no longer in production, is slowly being phased out in favor of the new Ford Interceptor.

The department already has six of the new Interceptors, and plans to add more in the coming years as it retires more of its Crown Victorias, according to Eagan Police Chief Jim McDonald. Each car cost roughly $28,000, McDonald said.
