City Council Approves Changes to Stonehaven Housing Plan Options

Council discussed the new options before taking a vote on the agenda item.

The Eagan City Council approved additional housing plan options for the Lennar Stonehaven Development with a vote of 3-1 at Tuesday's meeting.

Council member Paul Bakken voted against the item because he had concerns about the new one-story floor plans that were presented for council approval. "It was a long and arduous process that got us to the plan that was approved. I’d like to see the class of housing stay the way it is and not devalue the tax base," he said.

Council member Cyndee Fields was unable to attend the meeting.

Joe Jablonsky, a Lennar representative, was on-hand to reply to the council members' questions and said Lennar has seen an increasing number of requests for single-story rambler styles homes with a first-floor master.

According to Jablonsky, the overall finished square footage of the single-story home was not appreciably smaller than the approved two-story homes and the price point would be somewhere between the lowest and highest priced homes in the development.
