City Council Preview: Healthy Eating, Active Living Resolution Up For Vote

  • The rules governing who names local streets need clarifying, according to the council agenda. The Eagan City Council may vote to have the city attorney prepare an ordinance amendment delineating the city’s authority to name streets. 
  • The council is expected vote whether to become a supporting member of the Twin Cities Obesity Prevention Coalition and approve a resolution declaring the Eagan to be a healthy eating and active living community. The issue came before the council during a council work session last week. The resolution recognizes the role of the city in promoting wellness and is a chance for city officials to lay out a "future vision of where we want the community to be at," according to Advisory Parks Commission Chair Laurie Halverson.
  • A redevelopment agreement between the city's Economic Development Authority and the planner for Eagan's Cedar Grove redevelopment project is up for renewal on Tuesday. In light of the progress the planner has made to attract interest in the site, city staff have recommended that the EDA renew its agreement for one more year. The EDA will convene as part of the council meeting.
