City Council Preview: Thresher Fields Dog Park Up for Approval

The Eagan City Council will convene at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night at City Hall to hold a regular meeting. Here's a preview of a selection of agenda items the council is expected to discuss. For a full agenda, click here.

• For months, the Eagan Advisory Parks has been discussing the development of a off-leash dog park within Eagan, and earlier in January the group unanimously recommended a 2012 capital plan amendment that would earmark $45,000 for the development of the park. Now, it's up to the council to approve the budget amendment and an ordinance change that would designate a portion of Thresher Fields as an off-leash dog park. The council is expected to vote on the matter on Tuesday night.

• Approving the development of a dog park isn't the only action item on the council's agenda Tuesday night. Councilors are also expected to vote whether to approve six separate road projects. The projects are part of a larger road construction initiative taking place this year in Eagan. All total, city officials are planning 22 separate projects in 2012 covering 21.3 miles of road.

• The council may also approve a Comprehensive Guide Plan amendment and rezoning of the former fire administration property in Eagan. If the item is approved, the property could be rezoned to Limited Business.

• Panera Bread wants to add a drive-through and other modifications to its Promenade Place location, and has requested a planned development amendment from the city to allow the renovations. The council is expected to vote whether to approve the measure on Tuesday night.
