Council Preview: New Restaurant, Cedar Grove Outlet Mall

  • A decades-old fire training facility that Eagan shares with Burnsville, Apple Valley and Lakeville needs to be replaced, according to city officials. The Eagan council is expected to vote whether to approve a new joint powers agreement with those communities to replace the training facility, which is located in Burnsville. Under the terms of the proposed agreement, each city would contribute an amount not to exceed $500,000 for the construction of a new facility. The project would be built and owned by Burnsville.
  • has offered to donate $5,000 to the Eagan Fire Department for the purchase of new helmets. On Tuesday, the council is expected to vote whether to accept the donation.
  • The Eagan City Council is expected to vote on a planned development amendment for property at 3010 Eagandale Place. The amendment would allow an expanded patio with a gaming area, outdoo patio dining and modification of exterior building materials for a new restaurant called Lone Oak Grill.
  • The Eagan City Council is expected to vote whether to adopt the city's for 2013-2017, which includes approval of planned improvements for 2013.
  • The Eagan Economic Development Authority, which is composed of members of the Eagan City Council, is expected to take action on several items related to the proposed development of a 400,000-square-foot outlet mall in the Cedar Grove area. Among the items up for discussion:
    • Authorizing an updated traffic study for the proposed development;
    • Receiving the results of a research analysis of the outlet mall project from consultants Maxfield Research;
    • Approval of a settlement with Amerco and the U-Haul Company of Minnesota. Under the agreement, the city would compensate U-Haul/Amerco a total of $392,500 for property at 3890 Nicols Road.
