Editor's Note: The following is a press release from Dakota County.

Starting Feb. 8, the Residential Survey will be mailed out, giving Dakota County residents the opportunity to rate the quality of life in the county as well as service delivery and their satisfaction with County government.

About 2,700 survey packets will be mailed to randomly selected residences throughout the County.

The survey gives residents an avenue to provide feedback to the County about what is working well and what is not, and to share their priorities for the County.

Dakota County is partnering with Olmsted, Washington, Scott and St. Louis counties to produce this survey. The five counties work with the National Research Center, Inc. to develop a survey with shared questions as well as questions unique to each county.

Results are expected in spring 2013. Results are also available for surveys conducted in 2008 and 2011 at www.dakotacounty.co.mn.us, search 'residential survey'.

For questions about the survey, contact Jane Vanderpoel at jane.vanderpoel@co.dakota.mn.us or 651-438-4423.

Just 2700 ? And how was that # selected ? I say send it to all!!

Yea - why send out any additional that may provide a true response. After all, the county likely can only find that number of "likely" positive responders. Also, is it not the point of elections to vote for county commisioners where the public opinions should be heard? There are more than enough opportunites to voice your opinions and views on the multitude of topics and issues the county continues to pour our and your tax dollars into year after year.

Likely one of those surveys that really dont want you to provide a real response or some information that could be worked on, favored to the county which in my opinion does substandard job when I have to report the dead possum on their road for two weeks, when someone told me I need a lawyer to get my property record information from them, what the heck are they doing? Not much or as little as possible. But they are still getting paid to do nothing or as little as possible.
