Congressional candidate and former state representative Mike Obermueller is one of the latest politicians to weigh in on the growing controversy over comments made by Missouri Rep. Todd Akin (R) regarding rape and pregnancy.

On Sunday, Akin told an interviewer from a local TV news station that "legitimate rape" rarely resulted in pregnancy because the female body has "ways to shut that whole thing down". In the wake of his comments, Akin faced widespread criticism and denouncements from prominent Republicans—some of whom have called for him withdraw from the upcoming election, according to the Washington Post.
