Proposed Domestic Partner Registry On Council Agenda

  • The council is expected to vote whether to approve a domestic partner registry ordinance and a resolution adopting fees for the ordinance on Tuesday night. Domestic partner registries allow unmarried couples—both heterosexual and homosexual, to document their relationship with the city. More than a dozen Minnesota cities have so far passed similar ordinances. Earlier this year, the , but not before the issue raised plenty of controversy—.   • The council is also expected to hear feasibility reports and vote on four separate road construction projects planned for 2012. The proposed projects include a street overlay of Chatterton Road, a street overlay in the Hills of Stonebridge subdivision, a street overlay on Hawthorne Woods Dr. and a street overlay in the Lexington Pointe subdivision. The projects are among 17 planned street projects in 2012 that will affect 21 miles of roads in Eagan.
  • Council members are also expected to vote on whether to approve two conditional use permits. The first, if approved would permit a truck repair service along Aldrin Dr. to store contractor equipment and trailers outside. The second would permit Aspen Waste Systems to store trucks and containers outside.
