Eagan Officials Set July Opening Date for New Dog Park

The off-leash dog area will be located in Thresher Fields Park in northeastern Eagan.

After months of development, Eagan's first off-leash dog park will be open in July, city officials announced on Wednesday.

The 6.38-acre dog park, located within Thresher Fields Park in northeastern Eagan, is a rugged natural setting featuring trails, open spaces and even lake access for parched pooches looking for a water break. The entire area will be fenced in, and the park will include a separate area for smaller dogs, according to information posted on the city's website.

An annual permit and a color-coded collar will be required to enter the park, and permit fees will help pay for the ongoing operating costs of the park. . The city's Advisory Parks Commission began discussing the dog park last year, after city staff received several requests from residents for an off-leash dog area.
