Here were some other business items the council discussed:

  • The council also approved a Planned Development Ammendment for improvements to the Gopher Resource site, including changes that will bring about traffic improvements along Yankee Doodle Road where trucks can often back up all the way to Highway 149 waiting for access to the site.
  • The Phase I feasibilty study for a carrier neutral data center in Eagan can now move to Phase II, the city council decided Tuesday night. Three possible sites were identified, with the preferred site somewhere along Yankee Doodle Road.

Funfest talk

Praise for Eagan's July 4th Funfest bookended the Tuesday's City Council meeting. First with praise for Funfest organizers and volunteers, and lastly for the efforts of the city staff, public works department, and police and fire departments.

Ken Koch, Funfest board member, was on hand to to report on the event. He said the ferris wheel, which was new this year, was a huge draw and there was still a line for rides at 11:30 p.m. on Monday evening.

Koch ended his remarks by saying he was looking forward to many more years of the Funfest to "help show the world why the city of Eagan is our home of choice."
