6 District 191 Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District described the students as "academically-talented scholars."

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District has announced that six Burnsville High School seniors were named National Merit Commended Students.

Students who receive this recognition received excellent scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Less than 3.5 percent of the students how take the test are recognized as Commended Students, according to a news release from the District 191.

The students are: Janna Bruesehoff, Molly Calhoon, Taylor Ewing, Maxwell Johnson, Maggie Kaplan and Bonssa Teizazu.

Teizazu has also been named a semifinalist in the Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. He scored in the top three precent of the 160,000 African American students who took the Preliminary SAT/
National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Finalists for the program will be announced in April 2014.
