Candidates Interview for District 196 School Board Vacancy

The board will select from seven people, including four from Eagan, who applied to take the seat of Kevin Sampers.

Seven people, including four Eagan residents, will be interviewed Thursday evening to take the District 196 school board seat 

All seven applied to fill the remainder of Sampers' term, which was set to run through Jan. 6, 2014. The filling of his seat is handled separately from any elections.

The board will interview each during a special board meeting beginning at 6 p.m. at the district office in Rosemount; they'll appoint one new member immediately after the interviews, according to a district news release.

The applicants are:

  • Jeannette Appold, Rosemount
  • Nancy Dickey, Apple Valley
  • Betty Fedde, Eagan
  • Donna Gibbons, Apple Valley
  • Gary Huusko, Eagan
  • Roger New, Eagan
  • Lisa Noah, Eagan

The applicant who is selected will be sworn in Nov. 14, according to the release.

Apart from the vacancy Sampers left, the public will vote in the Nov. 8 general election to fill four more seats on the board; four board members' terms expire in January 2012.
