District 196 Constructing New $13 Million Building in Apple Valley

The building is for the early childhood and adult education programs.

Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District's plans for a new early childhood and adult education building are moving forward on schedule, the Pioneer Press reported.

The $13 million building will be 54,000 square feet and will be located in Apple Valley "near Diamond Path and 144th Street West," said the Pioneer Press. It is expected to finish in 2015 and will replace facilities currently leased in Eagan and Apple Valley.

Residents who live in the area where the new building will reside told the school board on Nov. 12 their concerns about the project, including increased traffic and the speed with which the plans have moved forward, the paper reported. The school board said they have discussed the building since December 2012 and are addressing the traffic concerns.

Funds for the building will come from the district's lease levy, said the Pioneer Press.
