Eagan High School Sports Roundup

The Eagan girls hockey team rebounded from a 6-0 loss to Lakeville South with an overtime win over Lakeville North, and more.

Girls Hockey: An undefeated record was broken on Dec. 10 when the team faced Lakeville South – the team failed to score one goal and were crushed by Lakeville’s six. The goalie for the Wildcats stopped 13 shots while Lakeville’s saved 21. With an overtime win over Lakeville North on Dec. 13, however, the team rebounded from the loss and won 2-1. Megan Wolfe scored the first goal of the game in the third period –which Lakeville answered about three minutes later. Brooke Madsen scored 2:50 into the overtime period for the win. Dec. 17 against Rosemount is the next game.

Boys Basketball: The team is now 2-2 on the season. Wins over Fridley and North over the weekend brought the team their first two wins. On Friday against Fridley the final score was 83 to 70. Against North St. Paul the final was 73 to 59. Nick Sabathke was the top scorer with 28 points and Shea Mandli brought in 15. Next up is St. Michael-Albertville on Friday.

Girls Basketball: Senior guard Jess Hart lead the team to its first win this season with 26 points against Red Wing on Dec. 13. Hart’s 26 points contributed to the team’s 82 while Bryn Parsons pitched in 18 of her own; Red Wing finished with 73. The team’s next game is on Dec. 15 against Henry Sibley.

Boys Hockey: The second win of the season came against Lakeville South on Dec. 10 with a final score of 4-3. The team was down 2-0 after the first period before Michael Zajac scored in the second. Will Merchant, Will Peterson and Cody Mason each scored in the third period to secure the win. The team will face the other Lakeville team on Dec. 15.


Nordic Skiing: A tentative 4 kilometer race is scheduled at Lake Elmo for Dec. 15. It was moved due to a lack of snow.
