Eagan Scholarship Winners To Be Honored Tonight

Eagan High School seniors Kellie Bohlig and Lars Johnson are scheduled to be honored at an awards banquet at Southview Country Club at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Bohlig and Johnson were each awarded a $2,500 scholarship from Rosemount-based Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend and were two of 26 students from 13 schools in Dakota County to receive the Discovery scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year.

Flint Hills Resources chooses scholarship recipients based on demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial skills—each recipient also had a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

“We are proud to play a part in helping these extraordinary students realize their full potential as enterprising young adults and future community leaders,” said Jake Reint, director of public affairs at Flint Hills Resources.

Since 1991, Flint Hills has provided scholarships to college-bound students pursuing careers in math and science. The company has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to 400 local students over that period of time.

Flint Hills Resources owns and operates refineries and chemical plants in Minnesota, Alaska, Illinois, Michigan and Texas, as well as four ethanol plants in Iowa.
