Rahn Elementary Tree Planting Gives Students Hands-On Learning Experiences

All students at the Eagan school will have the chance to help plant a tree around school grounds on Oct. 22.

Rahn Elementary students will plant 21 trees around the school next week with the help of volunteers and staff from Tree Trust.

Tree Trust is a nonprofit organization that, among other activities, offers environmental education programs to youth. Rahn Elementary received a grant from Tree Trust that allowed the completion of an outdoor learning center, along with help from local businesses, volunteers at staff at Rahn Elementary, according to a District 191 news release.

The trees are well established and will help block traffic noise and contribute to the beautification of school grounds. Students will also receive a hands-on learning experience by planting the trees.

Trained volunteers will ensure students plant the trees properly as they lead them through the entire process of planting a tree.
