Minneapolis-St. Paul trails only Paris in regard to the most popular cities in world for recent college graduates, according to the social networking site LinkedIn.

LinkedIn analyzed its data to see where recent college graduates moved in 2013, where they came from and which top companies were drawing them to those cities.

Paris topped the list, with 42 percent of new residents in 2013 being recent college graduates. The Twin Cities tied Washington, D.C. at 40 percent, which LinkedIn notes "may come as a surprise to many."

Not to Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development commissioner Katie Clark Siben. She told CBS Local, "Downtown redevelopment, new condos going up, restaurants, lakes, it’s a combination of all of those things.”

Coming in behind Minneapolis-St. Paul is Madrid, New York City, Chicago, London, the San Francisco Bay Area, Bangalore and Sao Paulo. Other data from LinkedIn includes:
