SOTU: Are you on board with the President's speech?

Last night, the President described the amazing progress the American people have made in the past five years: millions of new jobs returned to the economy, a strong move to energy independence with natural gas and renewable sources, a stock market at record highs, a steadily reducing budget deficit. But we have a long way to go, and difficult issues ahead: income inequality, opportunity inequality, improved education from pre-K through affordable higher education, creating more private sector jobs, matching jobs with better trained workers, fixing our broken immigration system. Our successes in the past five years have been despite efforts by a Republican controlled House of Representatives to block progress at every turn. The President promises to take every action within his limited power to continue America on the right track.

John Kline believes that only Congress can and should address our nation’s issues. The record speaks for itself: government shutdown, failure to pass immigration reform, increased higher education costs through higher student loan interest rates, elimination of emergency unemployment benefits, a refusal to increase the minimum wage. The Republican response to the President was full of platitudes, but no plans—and was delivered by a Congresswoman whose district has the highest unemployment rate in her state, who voted for the shutdown and who voted to end unemployment benefits. The words of the Republicans do not match their deeds. It is time to end the Republican majority in the House.

Do your part to end Republican negativism: vote for Mike Obermueller for Congress. Get on board.
