Eagan Defeats Maple Grove, Progresses in Consolation Bracket

One day after losing 4-0 to Moorhead in the state hockey tournament, the Eagan Wildcats boys hockey team defeated Maple Grove 4-1.

Less than 30 seconds into their Friday morning consolation match against Maple Grove, senior Cody Mason scored for the boys hockey team.

It was a sign of good things to come for the Wildcats, who proceeded to a 4-1 victory over Maple Grove. The game came one day after the Wildcats fell 4-0 to the Moorhead Spuds in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA state boys hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.

Eli May scored for the Wildcats during a power play in the first period. Mason and Will Merchant each added goals in the third period. Maple Grove scored its lone goal in the second period.

The EHS boys hockey team will play the winner of Duluth East and Edina High School game at Mariucci Arena at noon on Saturday, March 10. All consolation round games are held at Mariucci Arena and all seats are general admission. Ticket windows at Mariucci Arena open one hour before game time.
