Eagan Girls' Hockey Starting Fast

Wildcats off to 3-0 start, down East Ridge 6-0.

Megan Wolfe recorded her second hat trick in three games to help propel the Eagan Wildcats girls’ hockey team to a 6-0 victory over East Ridge on Thursday night. Eagan is now 3-0 on the year and has outscored its opponents 15-3 over the first three games.

The Wildcats got off to a fast start when Sarah Jackson scored just 24 seconds into the game. Wolfe added two first-period goals to go along with goals by Alyssa Markstrom and Olivia Asta to give the Wildcats a commanding 5-0 lead after one period of play.

The fast 3-0 start to the year also includes a 6-1 opening night victory over Henry Sibley and a hard-fought 3-2 win over Eden Prairie. Eagan came back from a 2-0 deficit to best a strong Eden Prairie team that came into the game ranked 8th in the state.

Wolfe also had a goal in that game and assisted on Brooke Madsen’s game-winning goal with 5:47 left in the third period.  Madsen and fellow freshman Shelby Williams have also contributed to the team’s strong offensive output. The two have so far combined for four goals and seven assists through the first three games.

Eagan will next play Park-Cottage Grove on Saturday.
