Eagan Girls Kick Their Way Into State Tournament

Eagan High School dance team finishes third in the 2011 Section 3AAA dance team tournament to qualify for the state tournament

Eagan High School's dancers are going to state in the high kick division as the Wildcats finished third in the Section 3AAA dance team tournament Saturday.

Spring Lake Park won both the high kick and jazz divisions held at Bloomington Kennedy High School. Centennial was second in the high kick category. Mounds View and Henry Sibley finished second and third, respectively, in the jazz category.

"I'm very proud of our team right now. They've worked really hard all season and we're really excited about going to state," said Eagan head coach Nicole Lonetree. "It's been about two years."

"We've really been pushing on our kick dance and so the girls were amazing at kick," Lonetree added. "They did a great job at jazz. But we got kick at state so we're really excited about it."

The high kick division of 2011 MSHSL state tournament will be held Saturday at the Target Center, with the Class AA/AAA qualifying round beginning at 2:15 p.m.
