Eagan Girls Qualify For State CC Meet

The Wildcat girls, plus Sidney Speir from the boys team, will compete at next weekend's state meet.

The Eagan boys and girls cross country teams competed Wednesday in the Section 3AA championships at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course, and the Wildcats’ girls team earned a trip to the state meet.

Eagan’s girls won the section with a team score of 44 points, besting second place Prior Lake’s 69 points. Both will be competing at the Class AA tournament at St. Olaf College in Northfield on Nov. 5.

Junior Danielle Anderson won the section by finishing the race in 14:26.0.

On the boys side, the Wildcats finished eighth overall with 206 points. Rosemount (58 points) and Burnsville (66 points) each advanced to state by placing in the section’s top two spots.

However, the Wildcats will send junior Sidney Speir to the state boys meet. Speir finished fourth overall at the meet with a 15:52.0 time, good enough to move on. The top five runners not on a team-qualifying squad advance to the state meet.
