As the fall sports season gets underway, these athletes are primed to lead their teams to victory. Check back each morning on Eagan Patch as we go sport-by-sport, profiling the top athletes on each team.

Name: Juan Sjoberg
Grade: Senior at Eagan High School
Sport: Boys Soccer
Strengths: When it comes to veteran striker Juan Sjoberg, Eagan High School Boys Soccer Coach Alan Merrick has plenty of good things to say.

“He is extremely energetic, very athletic, small with a low center of gravity and tenacious; he gets the job done," Merrick said. “I think he has the poise and intelligence to be able to produce in the heat of competitive battle."

It's little wonder then, that Merrick expects Sjoberg—and fellow striker Wyatt Wagner—to form the backbone of the Wildcats' offense this season. Sjoberg, who already notched one goal this season, finished third in overall scoring in 2011. Merrick hopes that streak can continue as the two strikers work together to hit their groove this year.

Name: Wyatt Wagner
Grade: Senior at Eagan High School
Sport: Boys Soccer
Strengths: Wyatt Wagner is the "battering ram" of the Eagan High School boys soccer team, according to Coach Alan Merrick. At 5'11" and 150 pounds, Wagner is a lithe, physical athlete—and an offensive threat that will likely draw plenty of attention from the opposing team, Merrick said.

"He needs double coverage to shut him down," Merrick said. "He's a very smart player, has an incredible pace and has a knack for going to goal."

Merrick hopes Wagner and fellow striker Juan Sjoberg can capitalize on their partnership on the field and use their talents as an offensive duo to open up holes in an opponent's defensive line.
