The Eagan football team dropped a close matchup with Eastview on Friday, falling 36-35 in overtime at home.

The Eagan football team dropped a close matchup with Eastview on Friday, falling 36-35 in overtime at home.

The Wildcats (0-3, 0-3 South Suburban Conference) entered overtime 28-28.

After Eagan scored a touchdown and kicked the extra point to take a 35-28 lead in overtime, Eastview quarterback Ryan Reger threw a  touchdown pass on the Lightning’s next possession to draw Eastview within a point.

Instead of going for the tie, the Lightning (1-2, 1-2) attempted a two-point conversion and succeeded, earning its first win in 2011.

Eagan’s next game is on the road on Friday against Apple Valley. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
