Eagan Places Eighth At State Swimming And Diving Meet

Four seniors, one sophomore represent Wildcats in final round of Class AA competition.

The Eagan boys swimming and diving team wrapped up its 2010-11 season with an eighth-place finish at the Class AA state championship meet on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.

En route to amassing 106 points in the title round, Eagan competed in the championship heat in five of 12 events as senior Zach Bonifacio claimed the Wildcats' top individual finish with a second-place time of 21.28 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

Fellow senior Rob Miller placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a swim of 52.10, with classmate Griffin Voss taking eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 45.86 seconds.

The trio of Bonifacio, Miller and Voss joined one more senior — Zach Sundry — to take eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:15.40.

Eagan was also represented by a lone sophomore in the diving competition, as Keith Krawza placed 14th off the 1-meter board with an 11-dive score of 325.85.
