Eagan Wrestlers Defeat Rosemount, Fail to Take Down Goliath

The Eagan wrestling team fought hard and defeated Rosemount in a tightly contested match in the quarterfinals, but were then defeated by the juggernaut of Apple Valley.

The Eagan Wildcats wrestling team fought hard to defeat the Rosemount Irish in a quarterfinal matchup at the Section 3AAA tournament held in Apple Valley on Friday.

The match came down to the last pairing of heavyweights. With Rosemount only needing a victory by points and not by a pin, Mitch Johnson, with a record of 24-8, came in and sealed the victory for the Wildcats.

The excitement of the close win over Rosemount was soon erased, as Eagan tried to take down the No. 1 seeded Apple Valley team in the semifinals. Eagan failed to make any pins against Apple Valley, and lost in a one-sided match against the team. Johnson provided the team with its only points in a win against Apple Valley's Corbin Farrell. In the end however, Eagan failed to take down the Goliath of Apple Valley.
