Eagan Golfers Finish First Day At State Golf Tournament

Drew Bauer is currently 22nd overall, Shelby Braun finishes 54th at the Class AAA state meet at Bunker Hills

Eagan junior Drew Bauer finished up the first day of the Class AAA state boys golf tournament tied for 22nd place overall.

Bauer is tied with four other golfers in 22nd place after 18 holes at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. His first-round score of 75 is five shots off the pace. Forest Lake’s Max Kelly currently sits alone in fist with a round of 70.

In the team competition, Eden Prairie and Rogers each tied for first with 299 after the first day, while two-time defending champion Wayzata finished the day third at 301.

On the girls side, sophomore Shelby Braun finished the first day of the state tournament with a 91, good for 54th place overall. She is 20 shots off the pace.

New Prague freshman McKenzie Neisen, who leads the tournament with a 71.
