Eastview Defense Snaps Eagan's Winning Streak, Heads to State

Eagan and Eastview squared off in the section championship on Thursday night in St. Paul. Unable to get past the Lightning's defensive line, Eagan lost 4-1.

Eastview High School dashed the Eagan High School boys hockey team's hopes for another trip to the state tournament on Thursday night in a decisive, 4-1 victory at the Section 3AA championship game in St. Paul.

Eastview's John Snodgrass and Cole Cooper scored in the first period to give the Lightning an early 2-0 lead. The Lightning expanded that lead, scoring additional goals in the second and third periods. With a little less than five minutes left in the third period, Wildcats forward Zach Glienke put one past Eastview goalie Zachary Driscoll, giving Eagan its only goal of the game.

The Lightning have only allowed four goals in the past eight games, according to a report in the Pioneer Press. The team's victory Thursday will propel them into the first round of the boys hockey state tournament, which starts next week.
