Eighth Grade Basketball Team Claims Tournament Championship

The eighth-graders beat out Shakopee, Prior Lake and Lakeville North in the tournament.

An Eagan youth basketball team overcame a 14-point deficit in its championship game against Lakeville North to claim the Shakopee Boys Basketball Tournament title last weekend.

The nine members of the eighth grade boys 'B' team beat Shakopee, Prior Lake and Lakeville North in the tournament, which took place on Jan. 21 and 22. The boys won two of the games in overtime.

"The team has been working hard and improving all season," Coach Dean Ohlhues said. "It was great see the hard work rewarded with a first place in the Shakopee Tournament."
