Nine EHS Seniors Sign Letters of Intent

The students signed the letters committing to play college athletics at a ceremony held Wednesday.

Nine students signed National Letters of Intent at a ceremony held Wednesday at the high school. The students include:

  • Ciara Rivera, who plans to play softball at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Rivera is the daughter of Richard and Brenda Rivera, and has been playing softball for 10 years.
  • Austin Stoesz, who plans to play soccer at Northwestern College. Stoesz, the son of Tom and Heather Stoesz, said the school's soccer team is a "great group of guys."
  • Emily Foertsch, who plans to play volleyball at Gannon University. Foertsch, the daughter of Mike and Diane Foertsch, will be competing at the NCAA Division II level.
  • Shea Mandli, who plans to play basketball with Concordia University in St. Paul. Mandli, the son of Pat and Lisa Mandli, said the university has supportive coaches that can make his college career an "amazing" experience.
  • Michael Zajac plans to play hockey at Princeton. Zajac, the son of Bruce and Denise Zajac, had a very successful hockey career in EHS, including 21 goals in the 2011-12 regular season.
  • Will Merchant, who plans to play hockey with the University of Maine. Merchant is the son of Scott and Geri Merchant, and said he chose Maine because of its strong hockey and academic programs.
  • Abby Zenner, who will be swimming for South Dakota State University. Zenner, the daughter of Paul and Carol Zenner, competed on both the swimming and track and field teams at EHS.
  • Calvin Lamb, who committed to play Lacrosse with St. Leo University in Florida. Lamb, the son of Larry and Laura Lamb, says his love for lacrosse is "infinite."
  • Jessica Rupp, who will run track with Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Rupp is the daughter of Gary and Robyn Rupp, was impressed by the sense of community at her chosen school.
