Wildcats trail 6-0 after two innings, yet bounce back to force an extra frame before falling to host Blaze.

The Eagan baseball team rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to take a pair of brief leads before losing, 10-9, in eight innings at Burnsville on a frosty Monday night in a South Suburban Conference showdown.

After a game-time temperature of 39 degrees was announced, the host Blaze took a prompt 4-0 first-inning lead and pushed their advantage to 6-0 after the second frame.

Eagan did manage to push across a trio of runs in the third inning, but trailed 7-3 before scoring two runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh as David Stevens single drove home Brady Loew to give the Wildcats an 8-7 lead.

Yet, the edge would not hold as Burnsville pushed across the levelling tally in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Eagan took what would be its final lead of the game, 9-8, as Eric Peterson's single knocked home Collin Baska to even the count at 9-9 as the game moved into the bottom of the eighth, where the Blaze brought the night to an end with two runs of its own to claim the 10-9 win.
