Sports Roundup: Top-Ranked Wildcats Girls Soccer Wins Again

Anderson's goal stands as Knutson logs fourth shutout in win at Prior Lake on Tuesday.

It was an abbreviated mid-week schedule, but one in which the Eagan girls soccer team joined the volleyball squad among the ranks of the high school’s unbeaten clubs.

The news was not as good for Wildcats boys soccer, however.

Roselyn Anderson’s lone tally—her third of the season—held up as the Eagan girls soccer team topped host Prior Lake, 1-0, in the South Suburban Conference opener on Tuesday to improve to 5-0.

Wildcats goalkeeper Kristen Knutson logged her fourth shutout of the season, making seven saves to preserve the victory. Knutson now has four shutouts on the season and has stopped 20 of the 21 shots she has faced through five games.

Volleyball

Another three-game sweep, this time of Stillwater, upped the Eagan volleyball team to 2-0 on the season. The Wildcats, who swept Woodbury last week, blanked their hosts (25-17, 25-13, 25-21) on Tuesday and have yet to lose a game this year. Individual statistics were not made available.

Boys Soccer

The Eagan boys soccer team lost for the first time this season in a 2-1 setback at Prior Lake in the South Suburban opener. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 2-1-1 on the year. Individual statistics were not made available.

Girls Tennis

A 7-0 shutout of non-conference opponent Simley on Tuesday was the second-straight victory for the Eagan girls tennis team. Individual statistics were not made available.
