Sports Roundup: Wildcats Squeeze In Full Pre-Labor Day Schedule

Eagan teams competed in the full spectrum of sports in the final days before school starts.

With the start of school just a long weekend away, the Eagan sports squads got in a full schedule of contests prior to the Labor Day holiday.

Cross-Country

Eagan hosted the Dakota Classic cross-country running event last Thursday, with the Wildcat girls taking second and the boys finishing third in their 11- and 9-team respective fields.

Individual victories in both competitions went to the hosts, however, as Danielle Anderson won the girls race in a time of 11 minutes, 38.2 seconds and Sidney Speir took first in the boys run with a 10:02.3.

Boys Soccer

With a 5-0 defeat of visiting Blaine last Thursday, the Eagan boys soccer team closed out its pre-Classic Suburban Conference schedule with a 2-0-1 record.

Heading into circuit play this week, AJ Albers leads the Wildcats with five goals on 10 shots, with Max Turnstedt logging two goals on nine shots. Goalkeeper Austin Stoesz has made 18 saves on 21 shots.

Girls Soccer

While they did give up their first goal of the season, the Eagan girls soccer team did still manage to remain undefeated with a 2-1 besting of Duluth East last Thursday.

Marissa Ganske leads the team with three goals, while Kaleigh Solheim, Roselyn Anderson, Katie Hasslinger and Ellie Schroer each have two scores apiece. Goalie Kristen Kntson has made 13 saves on 14 shots faced this year.

Volleyball

The Eagan girls volleyball team won its season opener in a three-game sweep (25-23, 25-18, 25-16) at home against Woodbury last Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Score/results from scheduled competitions involving the Eagan girls tennis and girls swim/dive teams were not made available.
