With origins spanning nearly 1,000 years of Japanese history, taiko drumming is one of the most recognizable representations of Japanese culture. “Taiko” is the Japanese word for “big drum,” and is used in North America to describe a style of group performance derived from traditional Japanese drumming and martial arts-inspired movement. Japanese drum ensemble Mu Daiko will perform a variety of traditional and contemporary works at Caponi Art Park, ranging from traditional taiko repertoire to original pieces composed by its members.

A $5 per person donation is suggested and helps make the Summer Performance Series possible. In the event of poor weather, the performance will be moved to Crossroads Church, located at 4100 Lexington Way in Eagan. Weather-related announcements will be made via the park’s website, Facebook, and Twitter page. More information about the performance, as well as the Summer Performance Series, can be found at http://www.caponiartpark.org/programs/summerperformanceseries/.
