Register Your Block for Eagan's National Night Out

The event is Tuesday, Aug. 6.

National Night Out is scheduled for the night of Tuesday, Aug. 6 in Eagan, and you can still register your neighborhood for the festivities.

The event will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. and you can register through the city's website

This is what the city has to say about its celebration:

Eagan started participating in National Night Out in 1998.

  • In 1998, over 20 neighborhoods participated.
  • In 2000, over 50 neighborhoods participated.
  • In 2010, over 150 neighborhoods participated.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  • Generate support for and participation in anti-crime efforts.
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out is celebrated in many different ways:

  • Block parties
  • Cookouts
  • Potluck suppers
  • Games for children
  • Barbeque
  • Ice cream socials 

National Night Out is sponsored by the Eagan Police and Fire Departments, the Streets Department, and the Eagan Citizen’s Crime Prevention Association.
