Did you know summer vacation for school children also means a higher food budget for families who are already struggling to make ends meet? Hope Speaks! is a supplemental summer food program sponsored by the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Centers for families with children. "Hope Speaks!" is a one day food and fund drive to be held on the first full day of the first week of summer vacation, Monday June 11 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Your workplace, group, or organization can help “Fill the Trailer” with kid-friendly summer foods on June 11th. There are two ways to participate:

1) Hold a food and fund drive and have volunteers deliver the food to one of two food shelf locations: The Pantry in Eagan at 3904 Cedar Grove Parkway or at the Lakeville Pantry, 20730 Holyoke Avenue Suite 139 on Monday, June 11th.

2) Spread the word throughout your workplace, group or organization to participate. Individuals may bring their donations to the Eagan or Lakeville Pantry, or make an online donation at www.eaganrc.org on Monday, June 11th. Each dollar donated allows us to purchase $10 worth of food.

Various groups are already planning and hosting food drives. The 7th grade leadership team at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Rosemount organized a food drive with each grade donating a specific food item. Eagan High School Senior Party participants are packing 300 snack bags to bring to the Eagan Pantry on June 11. Fantastic Sam’s in Eagan will be donating a portion of all proceeds from their Grand Opening on June 1-2 and are encouraging guests to drop off food items as part of Hope Speaks!

To donate online, or view a list of kid-friendly foods and other support materials go to www.eaganrc.org.
