Plenty of Mutual 'Thanks' and Giving for Eagan Rotary and Grant Recipients

The Eagan Rotary Club awarded 20 local non-profit organizations a total of $25,000 in grant money on Wednesday. Monies will be used within Eagan to benefit the community in a variety of ways.

There were plenty of ‘thanks’ and ‘giving’ going around Wednesday at the Eagan Rotary Club’s annual Grant Awards Ceremony.

Twenty nonprofit organizations who serve the Eagan community were the recipients of $25,000 in much needed grant money that was raised this year by the Eagan Rotary Club.  Fittingly, this is also the 25th year of the club. The grants were awarded at the Eagan Rotary on Wednesday, November 23rd at the Eagan Community Center.

“I’m glad to say it’s a good variety of programs,” said Quinn Hutson, the Chairman of the Eagan Rotary’s Community Service Grant Committee. “Each one of these organizations, in their own way, strengthens the Eagan community.”

Wednesday’s ceremony marked the 24th year that Eagan Rotarians have provided community-serving nonprofits with a source of project and program funding.  Since the Eagan club’s inception, members have delivered nearly $1,000,000 in grant funding. Individual grant denominations this year ranged from $270 to $3,000.

The grants are a way for the Eagan Rotary to thank local nonprofits for their work and provide them with the means to give more. Each of the recipients returned the ‘thanks’ during brief speeches that highlighted the ways in which their organizations benefit and give to the community.

The major source of funding for the annual grants comes from proceeds raised at the club’s annual Eagan Rotary Gala. The next Gala is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2012.
