Public Invited to Weigh in on Congestion Conundrum on Cedar

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold an open house at Eagan City Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Consider this before you begin your commute this Monday: According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, traffic volume on Cedar Avenue will grow 36 percent in the next two decades.

So, what is the best way to manage increasing congestion on Highway 77? MnDOT has a few options for residents on the the Cedar Corridor to mull over. The top two opetions include adding in a MnPASS lane or using a "contra-flow" system, which involves a movable concrete median that allows the DOT to convert lanes generally used only for southbound traffic can be used for northbound traffic during rush hour (or vice versa).

The agency will hold an open house about the matter this week, on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Eagan City Hall, 3830 Pilot Knob Road.
