Not good when compared to local competition. Have been there 3 times in the last five years to give them another chance. Each time I walk away thinking "that is exactly why I will never go there again". Ok food at best and Poor atmosphere and service.

Terrible food, service, cleanliness... This is not the excellent restaurant Al Baker ran several years ago. The new owner appears to run the place from his special seat at the bar, where he humiliates employees in front of customers, complains about financial trouble, overlooks bugs in the kitchen & dining room, cuts corners with food quality, etc. We loved this place when All Baker owned it; but we will not return.
Wow....Al Baker's. The last time I went there will be the last time I go there. The service was not good. The food was ok, but I think the waitress just did not care about anything. It took 20 minutes or more to get our check and then another LONG time to get change and all in big bills and I thought, if I ask her to break it down it would be another 20 minutes. I felt bad, but left without leaving a tip for which I am mortified and will never be able to go in there again. It could be a good restaurant, but I did not have a good experience.
I can only say good things about AL Baker's. It's an Eagan icon and through the years have been big supporters of Eagan's non-profits. Many times I've had the opportunity to use their banquet room for gatherings. The staff couldn't have been more helpful with great service. Eagan has many fine restaurants and Al Baker's is certainly one of them.
