Survey: 93 Percent of Eagan Residents Say City on Right Track

About 10 percent of residents said airport noise is a "very serious" problem and 44 percent said Eagan doesn't have enough clothing stores, according to the results of a biennial survey.

They want more clothing stores, and desire a careful eye on taxes, but they overwhelmingly approve of the city services they receive.  Those are among the findings from the latest biennial survey of Eagan residents by an independent research company which describes Eagan as “the showpiece of the County.” Eagan’s overall results put Eagan in the top two communities metro-wide among forty cities studied, according to Decision Resources, Ltd., which this fall conducted a random survey of 400 Eagan residents spread throughout every precinct in the City. On the Horizon: Quieter MSP Flights

Air traffic management, airplane technologies are behind changes.

It's a sound as ubiquitous in areas near the airport as snow drifts are in January—the rattle of dishes in the cupboard as a roaring, whining passenger jet takes off or comes into land at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.  However, relief could be in store for residents underneath the airport's flight paths, as the FAA rolls out a new air traffic management system called NextGen between now and 2025. What airlines are doing is great public service. I wonder: was the airport there before the nearby residents bought their houses, like I did, fully knowing every major city has a large airport? I just hope the airlines are retiring the old DC-9 50s for economic reasons so that airplane flight can become inexpensive enough to fly again, and so my kids can finally experience flying's thrills.   more ›
